KAUST Health is based on a family medicine model where the Family Medicine department is at the core of providing overall continuity of care for you and your family. The Family Medicine Department at KAUST Health provides a comprehensive, high-quality health care to both male and female patients from birth to all ages. In addition to medical care, our western trained and qualified physicians provide holistic care, encompassing your physical, psychological and social needs. They can help you with short term health problems, long term (chronic) health problems and in supporting you and your family with all aspects of health and well-being. 

Our Family Medicine physicians are a team of highly experienced internationally trained doctors with accredited specialism in Family Medicine (General Practice). They are qualified to diagnose and treat a wide range of health problems and can identify when you would benefit from seeing another health specialists and provide a referral for this purpose.

Our physicians are trained to offer preventative care whenever you consult them but we additionally offer a range of age related health screenings based on international guidelines for the following:

  • Breast cancer screening
  • Cardiovascular risk profiling
  • Diabetic screening and prevention
  • Colorectal cancer screening
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening

  • Hajj clinics and vaccinations

We provide patients with pre-travel counselling along with immunization and medications needed to stay healthy while travelling abroad. Important things to consider when planning to travel.

  • Visit your healthcare professional at least 6 weeks before you leave home.
  • It’s up to you to get vaccinated against infectious diseases and complete all the required doses.
  • Ask your healthcare professional if you will need malaria protection.
  • Recognize the key factors that put you at risk for disease.
  • Choose food wisely when travelling – boil it, cook it or peel it!
  • Use common sense to reduce your chance of getting injured.

At KAUST Health, we prioritize the mental well-being of our patients, understanding the impact that conditions like insomnia, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and other psychological issues can have. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including Family Medicine doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists, collaborates to provide specialized treatment and support. We assess, diagnose, and make appropriate referrals to Psychology and/or Psychiatry, ensuring comprehensive care tailored to each patient's needs. Additionally, we recognize the importance of a holistic approach and coordinate care with University counsellors and The KAUST School counsellors, expanding our resources and expertise to address mental health concerns within different contexts. If you or a loved one is facing mental health issues, reach out to us.   • Examination and special tests to rule out various musculoskeletal problems
  • Investigations including musculoskeletal ultrasound in coordination with the radiology department
  • Pre-participation sports and exercise medical examinations
  • Post-surgical reviews of patients undergoing orthopedic surgery
  • Coordinated care with physiotherapy and chiropractor services for rehabilitation post injury/post-surgery

We have a fully equipped procedure room where our qualified and experienced nurses offer the following procedures based on the physicians’ review and assessments:

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • Spirometry / Lung function tests
  • Nebulization
  • Wound care and dressing
  • Suture removal
  • Vaccinations
  • Point of care testing for blood glucose and urine analysis
  • Administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous medications
  • 24hr ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
  • Holter monitor - for recording 24 hour ECG
  • Vascular Doppler - to check blood flow in legs

We provide a comprehensive service to review and refill your medications. You can request a repeat supply of your regular medication through our email:  khrefill@imc.med.sa. Our Family Medicine doctors will review your request and refill your medicine for you to collect directly from the pharmacy without a doctor appointment if possible.
