Breast cancer remains the most common cancer found in women worldwide. Every October, organizations around the globe unite for a common cause – Breast Cancer Awareness. Early detection is key to increasing survival rates, and to support early detection, KAUST Health is promoting screenings to eligible community members this October.
Did you know:
Five- and ten-year survival rate exceed 90 % and 85% respectively with early-stage cancer.
Breast cancer incidence is steadily increasing since 2010 likely due to excess body weight, inactivity, and birth trends.
Early stage cancers often do not present or cause signs or symptoms, that is why screening is important
Breast cancer mortality has decreased by 40% over the past few decades because of early detection, increased awareness and improved treatment.
Mammography is a type of X- ray which is less harmful than the X-rays taken at the dentist, and it is equal to the amount of radiation emitted from the TV for a month.
Eligibility for screening:
If any follow-up tests or treatment is required, a valid health insurance policy will be required and -applied.
