March 28 COVID-19 advisory

28 March, 2020

The CMT and the EOC established in response to the COVID-19 crisis continue to take action and wish to provide the following updates.

The current number of positive cases identified on campus remains at 7. All KAUST patients are being well taken care of and we are keeping in touch with them and monitoring their progress.

These are the items that we wish to update you on today.

Social distancing reminder

We would like to remind the community that it is vital that KAUST residents strictly observe our directives. These are aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19. People should be STAYING HOME and following all directives, including:

  • Stay with your family only
  • No gatherings are allowed
  • Maximum group size of 2 outdoors for exercise. Activities in which there is a risk of contact through objects passed between individuals (for example, tennis, badminton, soccer, frisbee, etc.) are not permitted
  • All recreation facilities, astro pitches, tennis courts and playgrounds are closed
  • Essential travel only within the campus for food and medical appointments

Les Mills workouts

The Recreation Services team is proud to offer the KAUST community a corporate online 60-day free trial on Les Mills to work out at home. The subscription includes access to 800+ iconic workouts, including strength, cardio, HIIT, dance, flexibility and more. For more details about the offer, please visit the Community Page and sign up today.

QCam for Tamimi queueing

Community Life has set up a live feed of the current queue outside of Tamimi to help you make informed decisions about when to go to the store. This is also designed to support social distancing and to help reduce wait times for shopping. The camera covers the end of the queue. If nobody is visible, there are less than 10 people waiting to enter the store. Shopping is excluded from the curfew, and Tamimi is very quiet in the later evening. It remains open from 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m. daily. Have a look at the QCam before you head off to the store at: http://qcam.kaust.edu.sa.

Curfew from 7:00 p.m.

The curfew remains in place from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, in line with similar directives put in place in the Kingdom. Please consider this curfew in place until further notice.

It is vital that KAUST residents strictly observe the curfew. It is aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 by having community members stay at home.

For more information about the curfew, please refer to the previous announcement published on The LENS.

Staying informed

Once again, we'd like to thank you for your cooperation and ongoing adherence to directives. These have been designed to keep you safe and to help manage the crisis.
