March 27 COVID-19 advisory

27 March, 2020

The CMT and the EOC established in response to the COVID-19 crisis continue to take action and wish to provide the following updates.

The current number of confirmed cases on campus remains at 7. All KAUST patients are being well taken care of and we are keeping in touch with them and monitoring their progress.
These are the items that we wish to update you on today.

Extended family and domestic staff

Community Life would like to ensure that all extended family and domestic staff are kept informed of all announcements on curfew, social distancing, facility closures and more. We ask that you please support them at this critical time to ensure the well-being of all community members and frontline staff.

As a primary employee of KAUST, you are responsible for the compliance of everyone in your household.

SMS notifications from KAUST ALERT

In addition to the daily COVID-19 communication emails, the CMT and EOC have found it necessary at times to issue KAUST ALERTS direct to mobiles phones using our own SMS tool. These alerts communicate urgent and timely messaging to our wider community.

If you have not been receiving the emergency SMS notifications from KAUST ALERT, please use the following link to provide us with your contact details. Our Business Continuity team will then add you to the database for all future KAUST alerts.
Please note: By completing the online form, you are consenting to receive emergency“KAUST ALERT” notifications. Your details will be treated as strictly confidential and will not be utilized or shared for any other purposes.

Call for volunteers

We have received numerous enquiries from individuals offering their time to support the University’s efforts to keep our community safe and well. We’re pleased to announce that we are now launching our network of volunteers through the COVID-19 Operations Hub.
You can sign up quickly and easily here. Volunteers may be called on to help with essential tasks such as:
  • Supporting the operations hub and EOC activities
  • Providing support at Tamimi stores
All volunteers will undertake training that is appropriate to the roles assigned. If you are well and able to do so safely, please sign up. A member of the Taskforce Operations Hub will then be in touch.

Facility closures

All time-constrained suspensions and closures are being constantly reviewed by leadership to strike a balance between health and safety and the need to move about campus. When the time is right, the re-opening of facilities and services will be announced. Until then, all community members should continue to observe all closures and restrictions until further notice.

Staying informed

Once again, we’d like to thank you for your cooperation and ongoing adherence to directives. These have been designed to keep you safe and to help manage the crisis.

Vice President, KAUST Community Life
