COVID-19 advisory - March 23

23 March, 2020

The number of confirmed cases has been revised to include a total of 7. All cases had been in quarantine and were tested at day 13 as part of preparing for the end of their quarantine period.
None of the cases had symptoms. All of the cases have been transferred to DSFH for monitoring, and will be considered as recovered when they have had 2 negative tests 72 hours apart.

This is a crucial phase of the management of this crisis - all of the directives made are designed to help with the contact tracing process underway and to also stop further spreading of the virus.

Staying home

All residents of KAUST are required to stay at home, unless identified as essential personnel. We’ve taken this precautionary action as part of our responsiveness to the presence of a number of cases on campus. This helps stop further spreading of the virus and allows for the ongoing tracing work of confirmed cases.

It is important in this critical time that we stop gatherings of any kind. This includes study groups, play dates, exercise classes, team sports and any additional gatherings that involve persons outside of those we live with.
We hope that this will be for a limited time, 24/48 hours, but for the immediate future, we need everyone to comply.

Tamimi

Planning over the past few months has led to a large increase in the stock of food and other vital supplies. We continue to have plenty of stock as well as secure supply lines for additional stock as required. Therefore, over ordering or excessive purchasing is an understandable but unecessary response.
A Tamimi Market delivery app has been piloted and is ready for use by the community. Customers will be able to both arrange for grocery delivery, as well as a click-and-collect option. The main store is now closed to allow staff to restock and prepare for online ordering.
We urge all community members to be patient as Tamimi brings this service fully online.
To order, follow these simple steps:
  • Visit shop.tamimimarkets.com or download the application
  • Log in using your Tamimi Rewards loyalty card credentials, register as a new customer, or continue as a guest
  • Select the KAUST store
  • Start shopping and add items to your cart then proceed to checkout
  • Choose your delivery time (the current system has been set on pick up mode, however, at this stage please select pick up and move forward with the process, and Tamimi will contact you to confirm your orders and locations prior to delivery
  • Only online payment will be accepted through the website or app (Cash on delivery orders will be canceled)
  • Your order will be delivered at the selected time
For questions, comments, or concerns, please email ecare@tamimimarkets.com or retail@kaust.edu.sa

Restaurants and dining services

Deliveries are available this evening from the following restaurants: 10th Hole, Harbor, and Steak 7 using HungryCampus or by telephone. Campus Diner delivery can be ordered by email at Tamimikaust@al-tamimi.com or by calling 012 808 5260 or 012 808 3957.

Other restaurants have closed early due to the curfew introduced by Saudi authorities and the need for their staff to travel to their accommodation before 7:00 p.m.

Recreation

All recreation areas are now closed - North and South beach, the golf course, all of the astro pitches, the basketball and tennis courts, etc must not be used until further notice. Closing them will help mitigate the current situation - we appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience.

University Library
