May 19 COVID-19 Advisory

KAUST cases

The number of positive cases identified on campus remains at 15. We keep in touch with and monitor all our previously discharged cases and we wish them well.

Hygiene guidelines for personal sales or exchange of items

To minimize the spread of COVID-19, personal sales and exchange of goods within the KAUST community is generally discouraged. However, for necessary transactions (items not available in KAUST stores, final-exit sales, donations, etc.), Health, Safety & Environment have issued guidelines that should be observed to reduce the possibility of viral transmission.
These guidelines are applicable to situations of personal sale transactions or exchange of items between different households within KAUST including:
  • Sales and giveaways arranged through KAUST For Sale Facebook page and similar
  • Sales and giveaways within KAUST pregnant and new parent community
  • Borrowing/lending items between different KAUST households

Once again, we’d like to thank you for your cooperation and ongoing adherence to directives. These have been designed to keep you safe and to help manage the crisis.

What is the difference between "cleaning" and "disinfecting?"

Cleaning refers to the removal of germs, dirt and impurities from surfaces. Cleaning does not kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infections. On the other hand, disinfecting refers to using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces.
