COVID-19 Travel Update – Update 8

COVID-19- Update 8

Posted on Feb 27, 2020

The KAUST Coronavirus Taskforce continues to meet regularly to adapt to the evolving COVID-19 situation. We are committed to responding in a proportionate and appropriate manner to support and safeguard the community. Our priority is to keep you safe and well.

Emerging situation

As of February 27, 2020, there are no confirmed cases at KAUST or in Saudi at this time.

However, as mentioned in yesterday's update, there have now been confirmed cases in countries much closer to Saudi Arabia.  We are continuing our engagement with the Ministry of Health and monitoring the situation.

Today, the Saudi Government and airlines have begun implementing travel restrictions for people coming into Saudi and several KAUST community members have been impacted.

If you are currently being impacted by these restrictions, please contact us at Patient-relations@kaust.edu.sa for support.

The Coronavirus Taskforce will update with specific information related to the travel restrictions when this information becomes available.

In the meantime, we encourage everyone at KAUST to consider upcoming travel plans. If you are away, we encourage you to monitor your local situation and consider returning to KAUST at this time.
